This past Palm Sunday at Our Lady of Fatima Chapel in Chelsea, OK, we immersed ourselves in the traditional Catholic ceremonies of Holy Mother Church. These rituals help us commemorate Jesus’s entering Jerusalem to the “Hosanna’s” of the people and visibly proclaim our Faith.
The Schedule for the Sacred Triduum in Chelsea, OK, is as follows:
Holy Thursday: Mass at 6:30 pm, followed by All Night Adoration
Good Friday: Ceremonies begin at Noon and will conclude by 3 pm. (The length of the ceremonies is equal to the time our Lord hung on the cross)
Easter Vigil: Confessions will begin at 9:45 pm. The Easter Vigil ceremonies will begin at 10:30 pm, followed by Midnight Mass. This will be the only Sunday Mass. The Easter Vigil is a day of Fast and COMPLETE abstinence from meat. The abstinence applies to those 7 and older.
Seminarians from CMRI’s Mater Dei Seminary in Persia, Iowa, assisted Fr. Sandquist as Saturday’s Day of Recollection drew to a close. Two conference talks and opportunities for meditation, spiritual reading, and confession filled the schedule.
This Friday at 6 pm Fr. Sandquist will lead us in praying the Stations of the Cross, followed by a potluck soup supper.
Saturday morning we will have Mass at 9 am followed by a Day of Recollection with opportunities for Confession. The retreat will close in the early afternoon with Benediction and Rosary. See schedule below.
Sunday morning our regular Mass time is re-scheduled to 8 am. There will be no Mass at 2 pm.
Fr. Sandquist and seven seminarians will join our chapel workday this Saturday, and so we will have a Low Mass at 8 am on Saturday, and a High Mass at 7 am on Sunday.
The workday is to enclose our pavilion to create a storage space and a workshop. Then we can clear out the social hall and proceed with installing a new kitchen.
What a blessing to close the last Sunday of the Christmas season with a High Mass and seven seminarians to sing and serve! Deo gratias!
Behold the Lamb of God, behold Him who taketh away the sins of the world.
Lord, I am not worthy that Thou shouldst enter under my roof; but only say the word, and my soul shall be healed.
