“When you see the poor, the sick, the unfortunate, and the imprisoned, entertain charitable feelings of pity for them, and relieve them if it be in your power, remembering that it was for love of you that Jesus Christ became poor, endured so many sufferings, and did not refuse to be ignominiously bound in order to liberate your soul from the chains of sin.  To a lover of Jesus Crucified, there is nothing which may not frequently suggest thoughts of Him, and of His sufferings.”
